§ 26-3. Definitions.

(a)

The definitions, words and phrases used in the Louisiana Highway Regulatory Act (R.S. 32:1 et seq.), as amended, shall be effective as definitions of the words, terms and phrases used in this chapter, with the exception that:

(1)

Where the term "department" or "department of highways" is used, it shall be deemed to include the mayor and board of aldermen, unless the meaning clearly indicates otherwise; and

(2)

Where the term "department of public safety" is used, it shall be deemed to include the chief of police department, unless the meaning clearly indicates otherwise.

(b)

All words, terms and phrases used herein, other than those specifically defined elsewhere in this chapter, shall have the respective meanings ascribed to them in R.S. 32:1, as amended, and shall have the same scope and effect that the same words, terms and phrases have where used in R.S. 32:1, as amended.
