§ 26-4. General load limit for city streets established; enforcement procedures.
(a)
No motor vehicle, trailer, semi-trailer, tandem-semi-trailer, or light trailer shall be operated on the streets or public roads within the corporate limits of the city, with a total weight exceeding 14,000 pounds.
(b)
The police department, or any representative thereof having reason to believe that the gross weight of any vehicle is beyond that authorized in subsection (a) of this section, is authorized to weigh the same, either by means of portable or stationery scales or to require that they be driven to the nearest available scales in the direction or destination that they are going.
