§ 10-46. Fence regulations; definitions; permits required.

  • (a)

    A fence is an erection constructed of wood, metal or masonry between two contiguous estates, so as to divide them, or on an estate, so as to divide one part from another. The front yard shall be the area between the front property line and the required building setback lines.

    (b)

    All fences shall be properly supported or braced.

    (c)

    A permit shall be required for all fences built within the corporate limits of the city showing the material to be used, the height of the fence and a sketch showing where the fence is to be located, to be approved by the building inspector.

    (d)

    No fragile, readily flammable material, such as paper, cloth, or canvas, shall constitute a part of any fence; nor shall any such material be employed as an adjunct or supplement to any fence. In addition, electrical fences are prohibited within the city limits.
