§ 8-121. Dogs running at large prohibited; leash requirements; parish health unit authorized to impound dogs running at large.

  • (a)

    No dog shall be permitted to run or be upon any street, alleyway, highway, common or public square, unless held under leash and accompanied by its owner or keeper.

    (b)

    Whoever shall keep a dog or shall permit the same to run at large, unleashed and unaccompanied by its owner or keeper, in the streets, parks or other public places of the city shall be subject to the penalty imposed by section 1-16 and it shall be the duty of the parish health unit or its agents to seize and impound any such dog, wherever found.
