§ 44-30. Disconnection of water customers for excessive delinquency; reconnection charge.

  • (a)

    Should any person's water account become delinquent for a period of 30 days from the date the account is due, the city shall notify, by United States mail, the account holder that within five days from the date of said letter the water service for that location will be cut off. At the expiration of the five-day cut off date, the city shall discontinue service to the location within two working days.

    (b)

    Any person who has had the water service terminated and/or meter removed for delinquency shall, in addition to all other charges and penalties, be required to pay a reconnection fee in an amount as established by the city council from time to time. The five-day cutoff notice referred to in subsection (a) of this section shall notify the account holder of the reconnection fee.

    (c)

    When utility service has been discontinued for delinquent payment, any and all charges, penalties, deposits, and reinstallation fees must be paid in full prior to the restoration of utility service. The account holder shall be responsible for all charges, penalties, and reinstallation fees.
