§ 44-28. Water meter access; penalty for obstruction.

  • (a)

    It shall be the responsibility of the person directly responsible for the payment of the bill for water service (the account holder) to keep the area surrounding the water meter free from any overgrowth of grass, weeds, or vegetation.

    (b)

    No individual, corporation or business, either acting individually or through their agents, employees or representatives, shall place or allow to exist any obstruction upon their property, the effect of which unduly restricts the city's duly authorized representative or employee from having access to the property of that individual, corporation or business for the purpose of reading, inspecting and/or performing any other duty required for the proper maintenance of the city's equipment or billing for the service rendered.

    (c)

    Whoever violates any provision of this section shall be subject to the penalties provided in section 1-16.
