§ 34-1. Planning and zoning commission established; appointment of members by mayor; removal of members.

  • There is hereby created and established for the city a planning and zoning commission, which shall be composed of five members. The members shall be resident citizens, taxpayers and qualified voters of the city, all of whom shall be appointed by the mayor subject to confirmation by the governing body. All vacancies shall be filled in the same manner as provided for the original appointments. Members of the commission may be removed by the mayor, with the consent of the governing body, after a public hearing and for cause assigned in writing or upon the completion of their assigned project. The members of the commission shall serve without compensation.
