The following words, terms and phrases, when used in this article, shall have the
meanings ascribed to them in this section, except where the context clearly indicates
a different meaning:
Secondhand dealer
means every person in the city engaged in the business of buying, selling, trading
in, or otherwise acquiring or disposing of used or secondhand property such as jewelry,
silverware, diamonds, objects of art, clothing, mechanic or carpenter tools, automobile
accessories and supplies, and other such property. The provisions of this article
shall not apply to retail jewelry, automobile, furniture, and antique businesses.
