§ 12-124. GBL (gamma butyrolactone) prohibited.

  • These chemical compounds shall be prohibited for human consumption within the city:

    (1)

    Manufacture or distribution. It shall be unlawful for any person to knowingly or intentionally produce, manufacture, sell, distribute or dispense gamma butyrolactone (commonly known as GBL but also known by the chemical names 2(3H) furanone dihydro; butyrolactone; 4-butyrolactone; dihydro-2(3H) furanone; 4-butanolide; 2(3H)-furanone, dihydro; tetrahydro-2-furanone, 1,4 Tetrarmethylene Glycol; 1,4 Butanediol, and butyrolactone gamma or its analog) for human consumption or to possess the aforementioned chemical with intent to produce, manufacture, sell, distribute or dispense for human consumption; included with the prohibition of this subsection is any material compound, mixture or preparation which contains the aforementioned chemical and is presented, promoted, produced, manufactured, sold, distributed, or dispensed for human consumption.

    (2)

    Possession. It shall be unlawful for any person to knowingly or intentionally possess gamma butyrolactone (commonly known as GBL but also known by the chemical names 2(3H) furanone dihydro; butyrolactone; 4-butyrolactone; dihydro-2(3H) furanone; 4-butanolide; 2(3H)-uranone, dihydro; tetrahydro-2-furanone, 1,4 Tetramethylene Glycol; 1,4 Butanediol, and butyrolactone gamma or its analog) for human consumption; included within the prohibition of this subsection is any material compound, mixture or preparation which contains the aforementioned chemical and is possessed with the intent for human consumption.

    (3)

    Penalties. Any person who violates any provision of this section shall be punished as set forth in section 1-16.
